CHALLENGE - The culture of storytelling is almost as ancient as Ireland itself however it is at risk of being lost amidst the dominant world wide trend towards ‘disneyfication’. My objective was to create a service to reignite the transmission of stories from one generation to the next, entertaining young Irish people and educating them about their history and culture.
SOLUTION - ‘Nua seanchaí’ is an interactive and immersive storytelling experience based on the Celtic legends of the island of Ireland. Targeted at children in their latter years of junior school,( 8-10) the project aims primarily to entertain but also to educate. Involving current and popular Augmented Reality technology as a means of connecting with the younger generation, the project provides a new dynamic alternative to traditional static storybooks.
